About Polaris Pottery

Hi!  My name is Tammy Folmer, artist and owner of Polaris Pottery located in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, just outside of the town of Three Lakes.  I'm surrounded by natural beauty that provides a world of inspiration and fuel for my imagination; I am blessed to live in such a place!

My interest in pottery started many years ago while attending Clarke College in Dubuque, IA.  Initially, I started working on my degree with a focus on 2-D art drawing and painting, but after one pottery class I knew where the next four years would be spent!  I graduated with a BA in Studio Art/Ceramic Sculpture, earned my teaching certificate, and later receiving a MA in Educational Technology.  After a bit of a hiatus, my husband and I built my very own studio and I have returned to the wheel.  It is my intent to bring the natural world into my pottery so that anyone who uses it may experience a small part of the Northwoods.

Creating pottery gives me a sense of order and a means of exploration from one part of the process to the next.  A cup is not just a cup, but a vessel that the earth has provided and the elements have formed.  As a potter it is my desire to discover what nature has designed to create unique works of art.

All of my pottery, whether it be functional or decorative, is Stoneware.  Unless otherwise specified, it is food, dishwasher and microwave safe.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about Polaris Pottery, and please feel free to reach out with any questions, comments or requests!
